Sessions are 50 minutes in Peebles and 45 minutes in Edinburgh. It's one booking, so there's no need to pick the "right" type of massage in advance. We talk through what's going on when you arrive, and I tailor the session to you.

Peebles, The Health Rooms 50 minutes £55
Edinburgh, project: Physio 45 minutes £60

Strength and conditioning sessions are £55 while I finish my UK-SCA qualification.

Buying for someone else? Gift vouchers work at either clinic.

Every session includes an assessment, hands-on treatment, and a couple of exercises to take away where they'll help. Spinal manipulation is available within a session where it suits what you've got going on, and dry needling too where the clinic location allows. I'll always explain it first, and I'll only go ahead with your consent.

Your first visit

How long is a session?

50 minutes in Peebles, 45 minutes in Edinburgh.

I'm not sure which type of massage I need. What do I book?

Just book a session. You don't need to work it out in advance, that's my job. We start by talking through how you're feeling and what you want from it, then I tailor the treatment to you. No rigid routines, no scripts.

I don't have an injury. I just want a regular sports or maintenance massage.

That's very much something I do. Plenty of people come to stay on top of their training, or just because it keeps them feeling right. We'll still have a conversation at the start so I know what would help you most, and then you get the session you came for.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Depending on the area we're working on I might ask you to remove a layer, and you'll always be covered with towels. Your comfort comes first. If you'd rather, bring shorts and a vest top. If you're a woman and it's your back that's bothering you, wear a bra that unclips at the back rather than a sports bra. A lot of women arrive in a sports bra thinking it's the better choice, but it has to come off to get at the mid-back, whereas one that unclips can stay on.

What actually happens?

We have a chat first. Your history, what's bothering you, what you're hoping to get back to. Then I assess how you're moving, do the hands-on work, and usually send you off with a couple of simple exercises to keep things ticking along between sessions.

Will it hurt?

Remedial and sports massage can be firm, but it should feel like good discomfort, never agony. I check in as we go and adjust to you. Tell me what you're feeling, it helps me work better.

Do I need a diagnosis or a GP referral?

No. Come as you are. If something needs onward referral, I'll tell you honestly.

Do you do dry needling or spinal manipulation?

Spinal manipulation, yes, where it suits what you've got going on. Dry needling depends on the clinic location, so ask when you book. Either way I'll explain it first, and I'll only go ahead with your consent.

I've been told I have osteopenia or osteoporosis. Can you help?

Yes. Alongside massage, I prescribe strength, impact and balance work matched to where your body actually is right now. If you've had a DEXA scan or a fracture, bring the details and we'll start from there.

Is there anything I should bring?

Any relevant scan results, GP letters, or a list of your medications if they're connected to why you're coming in. Otherwise, just yourself.

What if I need to cancel?

Give me as much notice as you can and I'll offer the slot to someone else. With less than 24 hours' notice I charge half the session fee, and cancelling on the day is the full fee. If something genuinely urgent has come up, talk to me.

Want the longer version? What actually happens when you come in walks through a whole first session, from the conversation at the start to what you leave with.

Still not sure? Book a slot and we'll figure it out together at the start. No pressure, just help.
